Want to help harvest?

The Garden Project administers a field gleaning program in the Lansing area. Fresh produce, which would otherwise go to waste, is harvested by volunteers to help feed the hungry. The Garden Project organizes crews of volunteers to harvest crops at the request of area growers. The food is then distributed by staff to food pantries, human service organizations, residents of subsidized housing and other in need.

A canned food drive is an effective response to the problem of hunger by making more food available for people in need.  Each and every item collected does make a difference. Keep in mind that food is always needed, not only during the holiday season.

How to do a Food Drive:

Getting Started

•   Pick a time frame, with a beginning and ending date.
•   Notify the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
•   If the collected food can be delivered, ask the GLFB which pantry is closest to your location.
•   If the food collection needs to be picked up, the GLFB will need to make arrangements.
