Want to help harvest?
The Garden Project administers a field gleaning program in the Lansing area. Fresh produce, which would otherwise go to waste, is harvested by volunteers to help feed the hungry. The Garden Project organizes crews of volunteers to harvest crops at the request of area growers. The food is then distributed by staff to food pantries, human service organizations, residents of subsidized housing and other in need.
Here's how to join in:
STEP 1) Read the Gleaning Volunteer Guidelines
STEP 2) Complete the Gleaner Registration
We encourage you to speak directly with a staff member if you have questions about helping to glean or receiving gleaned food. Call (517) 853-7809 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

A canned food drive is an effective response to the problem of hunger by making more food available for people in need. Each and every item collected does make a difference. Keep in mind that food is always needed, not only during the holiday season.
