Grow-A-Row: (Sat Aug. 21, Tues Sept. 7, Sat Sept. 18) The Greater Lansing Food Bank organizes three dates where donations are accepted from your garden for the 'grow-a-row' program. Each of these days there will be three drop locations: L&L on West Saginaw, L&L on MLK, and VanAtta's. We need two volunteers to help staff each donation station. You will be responsible for weighing and recording donations from members of the community. The shifts are typically 3.5 hours. Our goal for this year is to raise 10,000 pounds of food for the three dates.
Food Drive Support: (Sat Aug. 21 in shifts from 10-5) The Greater Lansing Food Bank supports many area food drives by staffing tables, helping unload cars, or weigh donations. On Saturday August 21st the 3rd annual Faith food Drive will be at L&L on West Saginaw, hosted by WQHH, L&L and Trinity AME Church. We are in need of a few volunteers to take turns in shifts from 10-5.

Light Office Work: (Generally 9-5 M-F) The GLFB office is in need of a regular assistant to help with light office work. We need help filing, entering data, helping to stuff envelopes for fundrasising campaigns and other light office work. Some training will be provided, but volunteer should have experience working in an office setting. Hours are flexible around availability.
Skilled Data Entry: (Need varies, generally 9-5 M-F) Looking for responsible volunteers who can be contacted as needed over the next several months entering and verifying large volumes of donor/donation specific information into an online database. Must have at least intermediate level experience with Excel or Access, and have excellent and accurate data entry skills.
Weekend Recruiters: (Sat-Sun, varying hours) In need of a consistent, small group of volunteers to staff tables for outreach and recruitment at weekend events in the community. Typically in 2-4 hour blocks with another person once or twice a month. Training and information will be provided.

Food Moving Assistant: (M&F 9am-2pm, Tu-Th 9-12:30, Sat 9am-12pm) This position consists of assisting a driver on a food run. You will pick up food donations from area businesses and deliver the food to recipient agencies, community centers and pantries. Las year we saved just over 650,000 pounds of food. Volunteers need to be able to carry and lift 40 pounds. Training will be provided.
Drivers: (M&F 9am-2pm, Tu-Th 9-12:30, Sat 9am-12pm) We are in need of volunteer drivers with a chauffeurs license for our new truck. The driver and assistants pick up food donations from area restauarants, stores, and food distributors and deliver to recipient agencies, community centers and pantries. Volunteers need to be able to carry and lift 40 pounds. Training, specific to Food Movers, will be provided.
Neighborhood Partner Program: (Every Wed 9-12, 1st Sat 9-12, 3rd Fri 3:30-8) Assist in food distribution with our "mobile pantry" Neighborhood Partnership Program. Seven different locations, each once a month, emergency food aid is distributed to the community in an 'open-call' manner. Volunteer duties include setup, distribution, organization, and takedown.
Wash and Sanitize Vehicles: (Afternoons Tu-Th) Job consists of cleaning, washing and sanitizing vehicles. Training will be provided.
Special Event Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to help with food drives, call in donations and other unscheduled events. 24 volunteers on call as needed. Great for groups.
Banana Box Wranglers: Collect precious banana boxes from area stores for our use to distribute and collect food. Would involve contacting Store/Produce manager to arrange pickup. Great position for someone unable to commit weekly to a specific time as hours are worked around your schedule.

Garden Workers On Call: (As nature, or the Garden Project, calls) Volunteers are needed to assist on workday projects and cleanups to help maintain our donation plots at various gardens. Duties could consist of planting, harvesting, weeding, maintenance, shed painting, etc. Position requires minimal supervision and allows for flexible, outside hours.
Teach a Workshop: Share your knowledge with others on topics ranging from gardening to cooking, nutrition and more!
